Opis:
The English Garden at Night takes us at night through ten of the most remarkable and atmospheric English gardens.

Linda Rutenberg's photographs are taken after midnight, creating a vision of stillness and mystery. The English Garden at Night transports us to realms of beauty, history, tranquillity, and a spiritual quality that comes from centuries of thought and creation.

The gardens beautifully photographed here are:
Hatfield House
The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew
Vita Sackville-West's Sissinghurst Castle Garden
Christopher Lloyd's Great Dixter House and Gardens
Hestercombe Gardens
The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Levens Hall Gardens
Alnwick Garden
The Eden Project
The Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Wisley.

The mood is set by Christopher Woodward, Director of the Museum of Garden History in London, in an eloquent and thought-provoking essay, and all the gardens have intimate introductions by those who know them best.

Linda Rutenberg has been a photographer, author and educator for thirty years. Among her other books are the award-winning Mount Royal: A World Apart and The Garden at Night. Her fine art work has been exhibited internationally, and can be found in many prestigious collections. Her work can be seen at www.lindarutenberg.com and www.thegardenatnight.com.

Christopher Woodward is Director of the Museum of Garden History in London. A historian of art and architecture, he became interested in gardens through his book In Ruins, which explores ruined buildings as a contest between man and Nature. He gardens by night as a "guerrilla gardener" in central London.
